Kids Marathon update for Families |
To our KiDSMARATHON Families,
We are just a little more than two (2) weeks away from the big day: Saturday, December 1, 2007. We know that you have enjoyed your training these last few weeks, and are looking forward to crossing the finish line soon. We want to go over the event day logistics so that everyone will have the chance to finish the program with a big smile.
What: 2007 Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON

11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - participants arrive in the parking lot outside the Shark Reef

Parking
THERE WILL BE NO PARKING ANYWHERE IN THE SURFACE LOT OUTSIDE THE SHARK REEF WHERE WE WILL BE RUNNING. Please plan on parking in the Mandalay Bay parking garage (3,750 spaces) or the Luxor parking garage and surface lot (3,005 spaces). Try to be parked by 12:00 p.m. (noon) so that you can fully enjoy the pre-run activities.
T-Shirts
Your 2007 Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON shirts will be distributed before we run at 1:00. For maximum enjoyment each school, neighborhood group or individual athlete should plan on checking in no later than 12:30 in order to take advantage fully of the photo opportunities available while wearing the 2007 Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON t-shirt.
Medals
All 2007 Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON finishers will receive a commemorative medal moments after completing their marathon.
Post-Event Food and Drink
We welcome all participants, their familes, friends and volunteers to enjoy post-event refreshments which will be located just beyond the finish line.
Spectator and Family Reunion Area
We wholeheartedly encourage family members and friends of every kid to jump in and complete the journey together. Our goal is to teach young minds the benefits and advantages of a fit and healthy lifestyle. What better way to do that than to have the entire extended family including friends participate in the event together.
If you would prefer to watch rather than participate we would like offer you comfortable vantage points to see the kids as they complete their run. We will have bleachers set up at the finish line, and we will have an area at the southeast corner of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center where you will have great visibility watching the kids run. Alternatives include the parking area just outside the Shark Reef, and the portion of the parking lot just south of Four Seasons Drive. |

For ten weeks, beginning September 24, 2007, one thousand amazing kids (ages 6-12) will train under the direction of our world class coaching staff including Olympic Medalist and winner of the 1983 New York City Marathon, Rod Dixon. Each kid will work to accumulate 40 kilometers before December 2nd, the day of the world famous The Zappos.com Las Vegas Marathon. By doing so, kids will have earned the right to run the final 2.195 kilometer distance of a full marathon on Marathon Saturday, December 1st at Mandalay Bay Convention Center parking lot. For their hard work and dedication in completing the 42.195 kilometer distance, every kid who finishes the Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON program will receive an official Las Vegas Marathon Finisher’s Medal. They will also have taken great steps toward a lifetime of fitness and healthy living.
Each kid participating in the program will finish through the Zappos.com Las Vegas Marathon finish line on Saturday, December 1st, 2007 also receive an official Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON TRAINING GUIDE, Las Vegas KiDSMARATHON team shirt to be worn on race day, as well as many more health and fitness related gifts. |
